ANCIENT ROCK ART
Ancient rock art provides insights into the lifestyle, beliefs, and religions of our ancestors, enduring through the millennia. A lot of ancient rock art depicts enigmatic humanoid figures, now-extinct megaflora and megafauna, geometric patterns, and sacred symbols.
Ancient rock art includes:
– Petroglyphs: images created by removing part of a rock surface by incising, picking, carving, or abrading.
– Petrographs: images drawn or painted on a rock face.
– Geoglyphs: large designs or motifs (generally longer than 4 mt./13 ft.) produced on the ground.
