ANCIENT ROCK ART
The messages our ancestors left on the stone came to us through the millennia. Many of them show enigmatic humanoid figures, megaflora and megafauna that are now extinct, geometric figures and sacred symbols, allowing us to grasp their lifestyle, what they saw, and what they believed in.
Ancient rock art is categorized as such:
– Petroglyphs: images created by removing part of a rock surface by incising, picking, carving, or abrading.
– Petrographs: images drawn or painted on a rock face.
– Geoglyphs: large designs or motifs (generally longer than 4 mt./13 ft.) produced on the ground.
